Finding the Sacred in the Everyday (and in Every Day!)

In October I spent a weekend in retreat with some wackadoodle (their own term) tarot card readers and other spiritual outlaws. The event was called "Soulful Proprietor." I trekked to Milwaukee (of all places) to participate. It took me sometime to come down and translate the experience into words.

New lessons were learned, older ones were reaffirmed. Tears were shed, and bonds were forged.

Laughter. Labyrinth walks. Sun rises and multi-century old buildings. Transformation.

To say it was powerful is strictly incorrect.

To say it was divine is the only way describe it. Besides complete physical and spiritual exhaustion, I took away a simple truth.

We need to, as spiritual beings having a human experience, tune into the sacred in everyday moments as much and as often as possible.

The feeling of warm tea, soothing your tired throat. The gentle kiss of your beloved. The moments, people, and experiences that trigger you. It’s all divine.

Every Day Sacred.

The way your dog greets you as you arrive home, or how your cat turns the other way. Feeling cold air on your face. Sweating on a hot day. Autumn leaves glowing with fire bright colours. Making a difference.

Everyday Sacred.

(I typed that a different way on purpose.)

The more we can revel in these ordinary moments as if they were extraordinary ones the quicker and more completely we can and will change this world for the better.

Every Day Sacred.

Notice your body in each moment. What do you smell? See? Hear? Taste? What is touching your skin? How does it feel to be in your body?

Thirty trillion cells all looking out for your highest good with deep, ancient and innate wisdom. What a miracle. That’s everyday sacred.

Revel marvel, enjoy, notice, love, experience. Find the sacred in the everyday.

You, and me and the world will be better for it.
